This week was very routine in my duties. I responded to multiple tickets dealing with updating and installing required security patches on various lab devices. I think the biggest lesson learned is having to muster the patience for the customers that lie and come up with excuses as to why they want to violate policy.
This week was spent trying to upgrade with a more difficult task of updating older laboratory devices to our new operating system. Some of these devices were so old they still had 3 ½” floppy disk drives installed on them. The main difficulty is the older towers were configured in RAID with their multiple drives
This week I was able to focus on some security learning. Specifically, dealing with the removal of encrypted drives. Removing an encrypted drive automatically triggers Bitlocker and locks out the hard drive of the device from being accessed. This causes us to have to wait for security to provide us with the forty-eight digit recovery

The learning lesson for this week was addressing the issues that come with encryption of new devices and how the TPM locks out the computer on certain situations. If we fail to disable the encryption software while updating the BIOS the computer will be locked out. This will also occur when removing the hard drive
