ACDHS Co-Op Week 5

This week I continued work on the database. The basic parts of the database (tables and forms) were created. I used macros when creating the search forms- by using the ApplyFilter macro and writing SQL “WHERE” statements. So far, everything has worked smoothly, now I am working on splitting the database. I have successfully split it, but I want to make the front end “read-only” so that users can only see and use the search forms and not edit the data tables.

I attended a training session this week as well for new employees. They covered the basics of the agency- their mission, values, and key concepts. I enjoyed the session because it was engaging and helped me learn more about the agency.

Next Week’s objectives: Show my supervisor the draft of the database, make any changes/improvements. Make both the front-end and back-end of the database more secure, and work out the kinks of splitting it and making the front end “read-only.”

Rating: This week I rate myself a 5 out of 5. I’ve been working diligently on the database and have hit a wall several times, but it has helped me learn a lot in the past week or so.
