Another week has passed working at Target Freight Management and I continue to learn more about our business and our role as developers. This week we continued to update our database while setting up a connection to an FTP server for our clients to send their documents to. This will enable our program to read these documents, format them, and send them to the view which we will be focusing on next week. We also had to create a carrier document which while outline the specifications required by our carriers when submitting their documents so that the system functions properly.
Since my supervisor returned from his trip we got back to our normal work-flow, starting the morning off with scrum meetings before getting to work on our respective assignments. I try to mix in a little bit of learning with my work to keep my mind fresh. For example I was reading and listening to some tutorials on MVC to help me understand my problem better. I also looked into SQL queries more since we would need to be building them into our program and I needed to know which parts to include. These are things I was already familiar with, but taking a second look at something often helps me understand it in a different way.
I give myself a rating of 4 for this week. Next week we will continue our implementation of our program, building the necessary database tables and fields, and making sure our data is flowing correctly between our Model, Controller, and View. Looking forward to the work ahead!
